Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or American cheese)
- 1/4 cup pickles, chopped (optional)
- 1 package (8 count) refrigerated biscuit dough (or pizza dough if preferred)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Optional Toppings
- Shredded lettuce
- Sliced tomatoes
- Extra pickles
- Additional ketchup or mustard
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
- Season the Mixture: Add ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture. Stir well and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Add Cheese and Pickles: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped pickles (if using) until the cheese melts and everything is well combined.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare Dough Circles: If using biscuit dough, flatten each biscuit into a circle about 4-5 inches wide. If using pizza dough, roll it out into circles.
- Fill Pockets: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture onto the center of each dough circle.
- Seal the Pockets: Fold the dough over the filling to form a pocket. Pinch the edges to seal.
- Prepare for Baking: Place the pockets on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush each pocket with the beaten egg to give them a golden, glossy finish.
- Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Let the cheeseburger pockets cool slightly before serving. Serve with optional toppings like shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and extra ketchup or mustard.
Notes
- You can swap the biscuit dough for pizza dough for a different texture.
- Feel free to add other fillings like cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms.
- Ensure the pockets are well-sealed to prevent filling leakage during baking.
- Use a toothpick to crimp the edges for a decorative finish.
- These pockets can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
