Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (or coconut cream for a dairy-free option)
- 1 tablespoon instant coffee or espresso powder
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Unsweetened cocoa powder or finely ground coffee, for coating
Instructions
- Heat the Cream and Dissolve Coffee: In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it just starts to simmer. Remove from heat, then stir in the instant coffee or espresso powder until it completely dissolves to create a coffee-infused cream.
- Melt Chocolate with Coffee Cream: Place the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot coffee-infused cream over it and let it sit undisturbed for 1-2 minutes. Stir gently until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor.
- Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the ganache for 1-2 hours until it becomes firm enough to scoop and shape.
- Form the Truffles: Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop the chilled mixture into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball between your hands to form smooth spheres.
- Coat the Truffles: Roll each truffle in unsweetened cocoa powder or finely ground coffee to evenly coat them, giving an attractive finish and enhancing the coffee flavor.
- Final Chill: Place the coated truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and chill again until firm. Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with full-fat coconut cream.
- Use good quality dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa for a richer taste.
- Adjust the amount of coffee powder based on your preference for coffee intensity.
- Truffles should be stored chilled and consumed within two weeks for optimal freshness.
- For easier rolling, dust your hands with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
