Description

A hearty and delicious Ground Beef Grilled Cheese Sandwich combining savory seasoned ground beef with melted cheddar cheese grilled to golden perfection between buttery slices of bread. This sandwich is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal with optional toppings like pickles, jalapeños, or sautéed mushrooms to add extra flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Sandwich

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 4 slices of bread (thick-cut or your favorite type)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Optional: pickles, jalapeños, or sautéed mushrooms for extra toppings

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat. Add the finely chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onion softens. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Assemble the sandwiches: Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of two slices, sprinkle a layer of shredded cheese, then spoon some of the cooked ground beef on top. Add another layer of shredded cheese, then place the remaining two slices of bread on top, ensuring the buttered sides face outward.
  3. Grill the sandwiches: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese has melted.
  4. Serve: Once the sandwiches are golden and the cheese is gooey, remove from heat. Slice in half and serve hot. Add optional pickles, jalapeños, or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with any preferred cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor.
  • Make sure the skillet is not too hot to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts.
  • Optional toppings like pickles or jalapeños add a nice tangy or spicy kick.
  • Use thick-cut bread for a sturdier sandwich that holds the filling well.
  • Drain the cooked beef well to prevent soggy sandwiches.
