Description

This No-Bake Oreo Mud Pie is a rich and creamy dessert featuring a chocolatey Oreo crust, a smooth cream cheese layer, and a luscious instant chocolate pudding topping. Perfect for gatherings or a sweet treat without the need for baking, this pie chills to set and is garnished with extra Cool Whip and Oreo crumbles for added texture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 24 Oreo cookies
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tub (4 oz) Cool Whip, thawed

Chocolate Pudding Layer

  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding
  • 1 3/4 cups milk

Topping (Optional)

  • Remaining 1/2 tub (4 oz) Cool Whip
  • Additional crushed Oreos

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: Crush Oreo cookies finely by placing them in a ziplock bag and using a rolling pin or your hands to break them down into fine crumbs. Combine the crumbs with the melted butter in a bowl until evenly mixed. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish to form an even crust.
  2. Make the cream cheese layer: In a separate bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in half of the thawed Cool Whip to lighten the mixture.
  3. Assemble cream cheese layer: Spread the cream cheese and Cool Whip mixture evenly over the Oreo crust in the pie dish, smoothing the surface.
  4. Prepare the pudding layer: In another bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix with 1 3/4 cups of milk until it thickens, following pudding package instructions closely.
  5. Add pudding layer: Pour the thickened chocolate pudding over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Chill the pie: Place the assembled pie in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 4 hours, or until fully set for easy slicing and serving.
  7. Finish and serve: Before serving, top the pie with the remaining Cool Whip and sprinkle additional crushed Oreos on top for an attractive and tasty garnish.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature to avoid lumps in the mixture.
  • You can substitute regular Oreos with double-stuffed for a richer crust.
  • Chilling time is important as it allows the layers to set properly. Overnight chilling will enhance flavors even more.
  • Use cold milk to help the pudding set quickly and achieve a creamier texture.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated and consume within 3 days for freshness.
