Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or flank steak)
Vegetables
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
Seasonings & Others
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or more, as needed)
- Optional: chopped parsley or hot sauce for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Vegetables: Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced yellow onions and cook for 2–3 minutes until they start to soften and become translucent.
- Sauté Peppers and Mushrooms: Add the sliced green and red bell peppers and the mushrooms to the skillet. Continue cooking and stirring occasionally for 5–7 minutes until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.
- Cook the Steak: Push the cooked vegetables to one side of the skillet. Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak to the other side. Season the steak with garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and cooked through.
- Combine Ingredients: Mix the steak and sautéed vegetables together evenly in the pan to combine flavors.
- Melt the Cheese: Lay the provolone cheese slices over the top of the steak and vegetables mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt for 1–2 minutes until gooey and bubbly.
- Serve: Serve the Philly cheesesteak mixture hot in bowls. Garnish with chopped parsley or a drizzle of hot sauce if desired for an added kick.
