This Sausage Jalapeño Popper Dip combines spicy jalapeños, creamy cheeses, and savory sausage for a crowd-pleasing appetizer. Perfect for game days or parties, this warm, cheesy dip is baked to bubbly perfection and garnished with fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 pound bulk sausage
Vegetables
- 2 medium jalapeños, seeded and minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Dairy
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Seasonings
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bulk sausage until it is browned and fully cooked. Drain the excess fat using paper towels to avoid a greasy dip.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and add the cream cheese and sour cream. Stir continuously over medium-low heat until the cream cheese melts completely and blends smoothly into the mixture.
- Add Seasonings: Mix in the garlic powder, minced jalapeños, and shredded Monterrey Jack cheese until everything is well incorporated.
- Bake the Dip: Transfer the sausage-cheese mixture into a cast iron skillet or any oven-safe dish. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the dip is hot and bubbly around the edges.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately with your choice of chips, crackers, or vegetables.
Notes
- You can adjust the number of jalapeños to control the spice level of your dip.
- For a slower, hands-off cooking option, use a crock pot: after browning the sausage, combine all ingredients except Parmesan in the crock pot and cook on low for 2 hours. Top with Parmesan and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- This dip pairs well with tortilla chips, sliced baguette, or fresh vegetable sticks.
- Make sure to drain the sausage well to prevent a greasy dip.
- The dish can be prepared a day ahead and reheated before serving.
