Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Base
- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a lighter version)
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- ½ cup water
Cheeses
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh Toppings
- ½ cup diced red onion
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
Sauces and Garnishes
- ½ cup salsa or taco sauce
- Sour cream (optional)
- Jalapeños (optional)
- Chopped cilantro (optional)
- Crumbled tortilla chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well to ensure a crispy crust.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess fat to reduce greasiness. Add the packet of taco seasoning and ½ cup water, stir to combine, and let simmer for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Pizza Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired size and thickness. Transfer the dough carefully onto a baking sheet or preheated pizza stone. If using store-bought dough that requires pre-baking, follow package instructions accordingly.
- Assemble the Pizza: Spread a thin, even layer of salsa or taco sauce over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges untreated. Distribute the seasoned ground beef evenly over the sauce. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top of the meat layer to ensure a melty, cheesy finish.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheeses are melted and bubbly and the crust turns golden brown and crisp.
- Add Fresh Toppings: Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven. Generously top with diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, diced red onions, and sliced black olives. For extra flavor and texture, optionally add dollops of sour cream, jalapeños, fresh cilantro, and crumbled tortilla chips on top.
- Slice and Serve: Cut the pizza into slices and serve immediately while hot. Enjoy the delicious combination of taco flavors on a crispy cheesy pizza crust!
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with ground turkey.
- Use a pizza stone if available to achieve a crispier crust.
- Allow the ground beef mixture to simmer properly so the sauce thickens and flavors intensify.
- Fresh toppings are best added after baking to maintain their crispness.
- Adjust the level of jalapeños based on your spice preference.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven for best results.
