Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 white onion, diced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 tablespoon burger seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
Toppings & Assembly
- 6 slices American cheese
- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Set an oven rack in the center of your oven and preheat it to 375°F. Line a sheet pan with a sheet pan rack to ensure even cooking.
- Mix Meat: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, diced white onion, burger seasoning, and salt. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat mixture.
- Shape and Bake Meat: Lay a sheet of parchment paper on your work surface and press the meat mixture onto it, shaping it into an 8×12-inch rectangle. Place the parchment with the meat on the sheet pan rack. Top the meat with another sheet of parchment paper and then place a second sheet pan on top to keep the shape even while cooking. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 150°F.
- Prepare Buns: While the meat bakes, slice the Hawaiian sweet rolls in half lengthwise. Brush the cut sides with 2 tablespoons of melted butter for a rich flavor and golden finish.
- Assemble Sliders: After baking, carefully remove the top sheet pan and then the pan with the meat from the oven. Peel off the top parchment layer to reveal the large meat patty. Using two large spatulas, lift the meat onto the bottom halves of the rolls. Layer the 6 slices of American cheese evenly over the meat, then place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese. Brush the tops of the assembled sliders with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle with the everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake Again: Return the assembled sliders to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the buns are toasted and the cheese has melted.
- Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Slice between each roll to separate individual sliders. Serve warm on a platter and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure the meat reaches an internal temperature of 150°F to ensure it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
- Use a sheet pan rack to allow heat circulation around the meat for more even cooking.
- Pressing the meat into a rectangle and layering with parchment paper and sheet pans helps keep the sliders uniform in shape and size.
- Brush the rolls with butter generously to achieve a crisp, golden crust when baked the second time.
- Everything bagel seasoning adds a flavorful touch; you can omit or substitute with sesame seeds if preferred.
- Use two spatulas or a wide spatula to carefully transfer the meat to avoid breaking the patty.
