Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 1 pound ground veal
- 1 ounce taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup taco blend cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
Dough and Topping
- 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 cans, 8 oz each)
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s ready for baking the crescent ring.
- Cook Veal: Add ground veal to a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until the veal is fully cooked through and no longer pink.
- Season Veal: Add taco seasoning mix and water to the cooked veal. Stir well to combine, then simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate them into 16 triangles. Let the dough soften slightly at room temperature for easier handling.
- Arrange Dough Ring: Spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray. Arrange the triangles into a circle, with the shorter sides forming a 5-inch circle in the middle and the points facing outward. Overlap the dough edges.
- Add Filling: Evenly distribute the veal mixture around the ring on the widest part of each triangle. Sprinkle the sliced green onions and shredded taco blend cheese over the meat.
- Fold Dough: Fold the pointed end of each triangle over the filling and tuck it underneath the inside of the ring to secure the filling inside the crescent dough.
- Apply Egg Wash: Whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush the top of the crescent dough with it to create a shiny, golden finish.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent ring is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Let the crescent ring cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite taco toppings.
Notes
- You can substitute ground veal with ground beef or turkey if preferred.
- Allowing the crescent dough to soften slightly makes it easier to fold and reduces tearing.
- Serve with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the veal mixture.
- This recipe can be doubled or halved depending on your guest count.
